Sara Ramirez
Sara Ramirez has been a Mexican American performer, actress and songwriter for a number of years. Raised by her mother within the USA she faced a lot of racial taunts and made her feel being unwanted. After entering a ninth-grade school audition, where she received high praise for her singing and acoustics, she began to gain confidence. The experience not only boosted her self-confidence but also changed her goals for the future. In 1992, she received her diploma from the New York's Julliard School. At the age of 23, her first Broadway appearance in Paul Simon's The Capeman, and her film debut You've Got Mail were both her big breaks. Her most memorable break came from her role as The Lady of The Lake in the original Broadway adaptation of Spamalot. The show won her the Tony Award and received great praise for the performance. The following year she was cast in the role of Dr. Callie Torres in ABC's Grey's Anatomy. This led to her gain more fame. An accomplished singer and producer, she's produced one single and an extended work. She is also an activist and works extensively for LGBT rights.
